Cloud Forensics Today: An Overview of Challenges and Trends
With cloud computing drastically changing the digital landscape through cloud adoption and migration by organizations around the globe, threats to information security in virtual environments are also growing. Hence, it has become imperative for digital forensics processes and methods to scale up to meet cloud requirements. Though cloud forensics appears to be a promising method of tracking information security compromises on virtual platforms, performing digital forensics in the cloud is not an easy feat. The complex and distributed nature of the cloud tends to present numerous challenges for investigators due to the distribution of security responsibilities across client–cloud service provider lines. To implement solutions for existing and upcoming challenges related to cloud technologies, it is imperative for cybersecurity leaders to understand current challenges and technology trends from the perspective of the cloud security and digital forensics community. The current white paper aims to highlight the current challenges and trends in cloud forensics through the perspectives and opinions of cloud security professionals, gathered through original research conducted by EC-Council’s CISO MAG.
